When you have to make comparisons between devices that are similar and yet also slightly different – like the Epson EcoTank ET-2720 vs Epson EcoTank ET-4760 – you will see that both devices are actually almost the same. Both devices share similarities and also differences. So, what can you learn about the two devices?
In terms of technology, both devices are multifunctional machines and comes with wireless connectivity. One single can serve as a copier, a scanner, and also a printer. In terms of printing technology, they are both inkjet printers sharing similar printing resolution – the EcoTank ET-2720 has 5760 x 1440 dpi while the EcoTank ET-4760 with 4800 x 1200 dpi black/color.
But when it comes to printing quality, as well as the automatic duplex ability, both devices are different. The 4760 has automatic duplex ability (2-sided printing) while the 2720 isn’t. Moreover, both devices have slightly different printing speeds. The 4760 printer is able to produce 15 pages per minute in black and white and 6.5 pages in color. And for the 2-sided printing work, the printer is able to produce 4.5 pages per minute in black and white duplex and 4 pages per minute in color duplex. For the 2720, it is able to produce 10.5 pages per minute in black and white and 5 pages in color.
The Ecotank 4760 has bigger control panel, with a size of 2.4″ / 6.1 cm and can be operated with touchscreen meanwhile the Ecotank 2720 has 1.4 inch / 3.6 cm display. For borderless printing, the 4760 supports such technology. But 2720 doesn’t support such a thing. If you choose 2760, you can enjoy the borderless printing, but don’t expect such a thing from 2720.
What else to know about Epson EcoTank ET-2720 vs Epson EcoTank ET-4760? Whereas 4760 is using dye-based black and color, it isn’t applicable for 2720. But both printers are using colored type ink, enabling you to print black and white or colored documents (or photos). The quality of both printers is quite good. They are definitely above the standards with crisp and bright details.
However, whereas the 4760 has gone advanced with the built-in tanks (four of them) for economical operational cost, the 2720 is still using cartridges (also four of them). If you like the old-school types with cartridges, you choose the latter. But if you are more aware of the environment, and you want to save up both money and the environment while still being able to handle tons of printing work, then the 4760 would be the best option.
As you are well aware of, both printers are multifunctional devices. It means that they can be used for printing, scanning, and also making copies. For the scanning purpose, they relatively share the similar features. Both of them are using a flatbed scanner type, with a resolution of 2400 dpi, and 1x CSI (Contact Image Sensor).
Both also support 48-Bit of internal color depth and24-Bit of external one. They don’t support duplex scanning either. But their printer languages are different. The 4760 doesn’t support it, while the 2720 is using ESC/P-R. The 4760 doesn’t apply file formats while 2720 supports TIFF, PDF, JPEG, and BMP.
For the copier functions, the Epson 4760 supports 1200 x 2400 dpi while 2720 doesn’t. The rest is pretty similar. Both devices have different copy speed, the 4760 with 11 cpm for black and 5.5 cpm for color meanwhile the 2720 with 7.7 cpm for black and 3.8 cpm for color. They also share 25 to 400% reduction or enlargement. The 4760 support duplex copy while the 2720 doesn’t.
You can also use the Epson 4760 as a fax machine, but on the Epson 2720, this feature is not available.
Again, there are several similar features with only a slight difference in both of the devices. For paper handling, Epson ET-4760 comes with one input tray, auto document feeder as well as output tray, while 2720 only has an input tray. As a result, the 4760 is able to accommodate 250 sheets for the input tray. The 2720 is ‘only’ able to accommodate 100 sheets on its input tray.
As you can see, both of the printers have shared mostly similar features. However, there are slight detailed differences between the two. Basically, if you still prefer cartridges printer, then the 2720 would be the best option. But if you like refill bottles more (and you are more aware of the environment), then the 4760 would be the best pick. With the comparison of Epson EcoTank ET-2720 vs Epson EcoTank ET-4760, hopefully, you can make a better decision of which to choose.
